Sustainable Fashion & Ritual Object
KOYOPA emerged from the intersection of ceremonial living, Mayan lineage, and the philosophy of enclothed cognition, rooted in the belief that what we wear shapes how we move, feel, and relate to the world. Created in Guatemala and deeply informed by the tradition of plant-dyed textiles and ancestral weaving practices, the brand required an identity system capable of holding both symbolic depth and contemporary restraint.
The objective was to translate these ideas into a world that felt elemental, intentional, and alive. Drawing from the symbolism of the serpent, weaving, and directional color within Mayan cosmology, we developed a visual identity centered around a woven totemic mark, an atmospheric color system, and a typographic language that balances editorial elegance with grounded structure.
The result is a brand system that moves between ritual object and modern expression, where identity functions less as decoration and more as an extension of the philosophy itself.
OVERVIEW
Traditional Sky Serpent Weaver
Context
The Koyopa mark was developed as a woven symbol of movement, energy, and containment. Drawing from the visual language of serpents and textile structures, the form balances organic motion with intentional structure, allowing the identity to feel both instinctive and architectural. The system extends through primary, secondary, and symbolic applications, creating flexibility while preserving the mythic core of the brand.

Pigments
The color system draws directly from Mayan cosmology, where color functions not simply as aesthetic choice but as directional symbolism tied to cycles of transformation, fertility, spirit, and renewal. Earth pigments, oxidized reds, muted greens, and mineral neutrals create an atmospheric palette designed to feel elemental rather than decorative.

Packaging
The packaging system was conceived as a keepsake object rather than disposable commerce. Unbleached materials, blind debossing, woven textures, handwritten interventions, and layered reveals transform the act of receiving into a slower, sequential experience rooted in memory, trace, and touch.
